Dr Flavia Massaro presented her work on yeasts and fungi within the stingless bee hive at an Australian Native Bee Association meeting in Brisbane. A fascinating subject and shows there’s a lot going on inside a bee colony that we don’t even think about. Many microbes, bacteria and fungi naturally exist in all stingless bee colonies.
We had some discussion after the meeting about our current colony deaths which is something we should be looking at for some future research.
