Workshop with Sarah – Bee Yourself

A great afternoon at a Bee Yourself native bee workshop in Brisbane. A nice intimate crowd of twenty, we had plenty of laughs and it was great to meet everyone.

Despite the hives looking good in the photos, Sarah set a great example explaining why they weren’t quite ready to split and put them back together. While having some good brood, one needed to build up some more resources like honey and pollen and when another box was split almost all he brood came out in one piece and it may have caused too much damage to separate half the brood manually.

Sarah wore a head net/veil for the first split in anticipation the bees would be a bit feisty but they ended up being very calm and the boxes could be passed around without anyone being attacked.
